LIPOSORBER®, Lipoprotein apheresis the ultima ratio in lipid lowering

Lipoprotein apheresis is indicated as ultima ratio treatment of high-risk patient populations suffering from severe lipoprotein disorders (e.g. Familial Hypercholesterolemia, Hyperlipoprotein(a)nemia).
LIPOSORBER® columns are designed for the removal of lipoprotein such as VLDL, LDL and Lp(a) from patients with dyslipidemia. The LIPOSORBER® adsorption column binds atherogenic lipoproteins through chemoadsorption to negatively-charged dextran sulfate on cellulose beads.
Kaneka provides two different apheresis approaches, LIPOSORBER® LA-15 (Plasmapheresis system) and LIPOSORBER® D (Direct Hemoperfusion).
