Mechanism
Dextran sulfate Adsorption – selective removal

LIPOSORBER® columns are filled with a gel-like negatively charged dextran sulfate bound on cellulose beads.

Thus, positively charged lipoproteins (LDL, Lp(a), TG) can easily attach to the beads and be eliminated from the blood or plasma (chemoadsorption). Other proteins mainly remain in blood and/or the plasma and are returned back to the patient.
